ZandShe - øne

Pretty interesting album from ZandShe, hard to describe.  Mellow, bassy, and dreamy.

Lazloh - "Mignight"

Drugged out and thugged out space age future hip hop beats from the far side of the galaxy.

LZRKMMNDR - Equationwise

"The shock of this treacherous campaign brought Puss Titter to her feet and she shook her fists, which appeared like two opposing squadrons in midair battle. As anger vibrated through her soul, Puss Titter vowed that her revenge would be more immediate than any act of God, and soon the entire country would be a house of mourning with nothing but ruins and clouds of smoke arising from the burnt grass. She swore to reveal Dude Noway as just another self-indulgent shit, feeding on the being of his companions and vibrating off the fat of the land. Before long she would have the repulsive little daughter’s boy whining futile apologies to empty air, his self-deprecating pursuit of her retaliatory insults to be refused by grievous misfortunes scrupulously carried out. Yet even in the girth of such an accomplishment her final adieus would only tempt his submission nearer."
-sleep of the puss titter (entirely unrelated to this album.)

this album is good.

V/A - "White Lighter"

Number 27 for the Bludclot Recordings catalog is another ridiculous compilation of ruffneck jungle and core varieties spiced up with other flavors and elements familiar to our output. After a rough patch that seemed to spell the end for the label and Grindthieves family, the passion and drive to press on – even and especiallythrough the truly terrible times in life – we banded together with another sick batch of artists for the tongue and cheek titled/themed “White Lighter” compilation. A sort of slap in the face and homage to the so-called “27 Club” of famous musicians who’ve passed on too early at the age of 27 and peculiarly found with a white lighter in their pocket, Bludclot brings it rough, rugged, and ruthless once more for number 27 on the 27th of April in the year the world is supposed to end.
Some familiar Bludclot names plus a nice helping of artists not before featured on a Bludclot release that you’re probably familiar with already, this is yet another world class gathering of rudeboys and soundkillers aimed at demolishing your speakers and ruining the dance in the best way possible.
01 : Ghost – “Crystalize”
02 : Kungfused – “No Way”
03 : unsoundbwoy – “Angel”

Laster - "Wijsgeer & Narreman"

Supreme Dutch black metal in the form of this 3 track EP from the Utrecht based duo calling themselves Laster. Just raw enough production to keep it legitimate, just clean enough to really make it reach out and choke. Great chugging riffs, epic melodic and atmospheric breakdowns, crashing drums and tons of cymbals, just about the perfect screeching style black metal vocal, impeccable songwriting. This shit is superb.

Faceblast Presents... Volume One

Photobucket

A diverse compilation from Faceblast Records. Many EDM genres are represented, including drum and bass, dubstep, and future garage. Having never heard any of the artists on this compilation before, it was pleasant to find the standard of quality high. Amongst the more standard forms of EDM, there are nice surprises like an upbeat chipbreak track and a 7 minute IDMy opus that finishes the compilation off.

Hue Jah Fink - "We Snare Because You Do"

Clever yet straightforward, Hue Jah Fink delivers a helping of older tunes available to own for the first time on this compilation, just released the end of last month. Forward thinking, even by comparison to today and previous forward thinking intelligent music icons, you got prime rollin' choppage that owes something equally to 1992 UK breakbeat hardcore, mid 90s hardcore darkstep drum'n'bass, far out futuristic choppage vibes that you could here from the likes of the Scientific Wax crew, and the oldschool IDM masters. Basically, this is pretty damn good.

Monde Céleste - "Hazlescents"

Ohman, some of you are probably going to hate me for this, but I'll be fuckin' damned if this isn't a brilliant release. Self described as "dreamy light post-black metal  / noisy lo-fi darkgaze", which couldn't be more accurate while also being a bit off putting, Monde Céleste is just some kid somewhere. Makin' this breed of borderline guilty pleasure sonic bliss. Which just happens to fucking rule.

Odessa - S/T

Raw recordings of really incredible sort of progressive black metal right here, folks. It almost sounds like you're right there in the dusty, spider web infested, only candlelit basement while they are playing. Except not quite as loud.. Unless you turn your home system up real loud after you download this. Which you should. One of the cooler and more original logos in black metal lately, as well.

Wylve - "Demo 2012"

Two tracks of fresh and hot of the presses black metal that is both blistering and relentless as well as atmospheric and emotive. Originally released in limited edition of 33 on cassette in February of this year, it has obviously sold out so here you go. Happy Friday The 13th, get murky.

VARIOUS ARTISTS - DEVIL NOISE ASSEMBLAGE #7

Brand spankin' new noise compilation from Devil Noise Recordings, a fairly new net label releasing mostly music of the noise variety. Eight tracks clocking in just over an hour. With songs from the noise prolific such as I Am Esper and RedSK, in addition to Marc Broude, Audioviruses, Tooth_Eye, Noise Machine, Shaun Robert, and Scotch Allenguarde. The majority of material included is of the ambient noise variety, although there are a few pieces that stray. Shaun Robert's "Psychic Teacher" is nearly six minutes of cut up acoustic drums and other rhythmic noises backed by soft ambient washes. An enjoyable listen.

Heaps of discordant sound wave modulation fight for your attention while "Tito's" shrieking voice pecks at your private parts like hungry battlefield crow carrion. An honest to Sthoth full length out now on the ever beautifully prolific Sirona Records.

Plot Twist - "The Bootlegs"

I don't feel like I've been seeking it out, but I've sure been hearing a lot of it lately. Incredible music from the Minneapolis area. Just, like, so much lately. The TCDNB5, obviously, along with a bunch of other people I've stumbled upon thanks to various other people, labels, blogs, friends.

Plot Twist just kind of dropped a bomb with this one, super sick reworks of some tracks you may or may not already be familiar with. Trap shit, juke and footwork, futurebass, hip hop, no bullshit.

Check it.

Twin Cities Drum'N'Bass Volume Five

Big love goin' out to my home town and its sister city, Minneapolis and St. Paul, MN! All the heads that are pushing a jungle/drum'n'bass sound for the dancefloor and wall systems get together every now and again for a compilation of original tunes mixed up by one of the DJs and the result is increasingly awesome with each volume.

A big variety of dancefloor aimed numbers from some deeper and soulful rollers to hardcore dub laced skankers to some sort of newschool jump up flavors with some dubwise drops through to some upfront in your face freakouts and beyond. Personal highlights are both of Virgo's offerings; "Hardest Drummer" featuring I-shack with some future reggae jungle'n'skank jazz and the shady private intvestigator vibes on "Better Killers", Fact's "Rhinoceros" with its nod to the sparse yet intelligent chop suey drum'n'bass from the latter 90s, and Idol's alien language cyber rain forest colony d'n'b on "The Void".

MBC assembles these monster tracks, wide range of styles and vibes they each bring, incredibly well and manages to lay down some seriously deep and creative mixing between them. Brace sounds at home among the tracks and mixing, never too loud and only complimenting the music and blends. Nice mastering and sick cover art to top it all off.

The fresh flavors from several of the area's heads who were around and managed to help shape my mind musically in my formative jungleraver years, as well as a helping of younger heads I know to varying degree carrying on their idea of that framework, plus even more cats I'm not too familiar with.

Free download, CD for $5.00, and Tshirt for $15 - get it!

Roger Species - Never tickle a sleeping strawberry

Photobucket

Roger Species. Co-founder of the brand new label Crouching Demon, Hidden Message with the infamous Shitmat. The first release is by Roger Species, who brings Cassette Boy-esque audio dialogue arrangement. Plugged full of "toilet" humor with an English? (or Australian) twist. Out of the whomping 82 tracks, there are a couple standard songs, one being a classic jungle choon entitled "Bobsled Jungle". A fantastically humorous listen with a few well placed slammers.
